I am unable to add my debit card as a funding source. What's going on?

If you’re having trouble adding your debit card as a funding source, don’t worry — we’ll walk you through the most common reasons this happens and how to resolve it!

1. The Billing Address Doesn’t Match

Make sure the billing address you enter matches exactly what your bank has on file. Even small differences (like “St.” vs. “Street”) can cause issues.

2. You're Using a Prepaid Card

Prepaid debit or credit cards aren’t currently supported by Greenlight. We recommend using a traditional debit card issued by your bank.

3. Your Verification Transactions Don’t Match

When you add a new debit card, Greenlight will divide your deposit into two smaller withdrawal transactions from your bank account. To verify your debit card, enter the exact amounts shown on your bank statement into the app.

Double-check your bank statement to make sure the amounts you enter match exactly.

4. You’ve Reached the Funding Source Limit

Greenlight lets you add up to 15 total funding sources to your account. If you’ve added debit cards or bank accounts before, you might have reached that limit — which could be why you're running into trouble. You can learn more about funding source limits here, or contact our support team and we’ll be happy to take a look at your account!

5. Your Bank Is Blocking the Card

If none of the above reasons apply, your bank may be blocking your debit card from being linked to your Greenlight account. This can happen for a variety of reasons and is something only your bank can resolve so we recommend reaching out to them directly.

If you’ve already spoken with your bank and the issue isn’t resolved, feel free to contact our customer support team — we’re happy to help however we can!
