What is autofunding?

Autofunding makes it easy for parents to fund their Greenlight accounts automatically. Select a funding source and then choose your permissions and preferences for each feature. 

Parent's Wallet

Autofunding the Parent’s Wallet is useful to ensure you always have enough money in your account when your kids need it. You can decide whether Greenlight should move money to your Parent’s Wallet monthly or when the balance hits a certain threshold.

  1. Use the gear icon on the Parent Dashboard to access Parent Settings.
  2. Tap on “Funding” followed by "Autofunding." 
    • If you do not have Parent's Wallet Autofunding set up, you can also navigate to the “Autofunding” page by tapping on "Set up autofunding" from the Parent Dashboard.
  3. You will see 2 options under ‘Parent’s Wallet’. Decide to add money:
    • When account is low: Automatically add a set amount of funds each time your Parent's Wallet drops below a certain balance that you set.
    • On 1st of each month: Automatically add a set amount of funds on the 1st of each month.

Allowance

Autofunding allowance can be used to ensure your child's allowance gets paid on schedule even if there is not enough money in your Parent's Wallet at the time of payment.

  1. Use the gear icon on the Parent Dashboard to access Parent Settings.
  2. Tap on “Funding” followed by "Autofunding". 
    • If you do not have allowance autofunding set up, you can also navigate to the “Autofunding” page by tapping on "Set up autofunding" from the Parent Dashboard.
  3. Once selected, your child's allowance will continue to be paid out on time even if there is not enough money in your Parent's Wallet. These funds would come from your connected funding source.
