What are real-time trips alerts, how do they work, and how do I adjust their settings?

Real-time trip alerts* are notifications sent to the parent’s phone that lets them know when their child has started a trip in a moving vehicle, when the trip has ended, how safe the trip was, and a preview of any unsafe actions that occurred on the trip. Each “Trip end” alert will include a score between 0-100 indicating how safe the trip was, with 100 being the most safe (a ‘perfect drive’) and scores of 70 and below considered unsafe.

For each child on the Greenlight app, parents can adjust settings for what kind of trip alerts they would like to receive–trip start, trip end, or both!

How to update your trip alert settings:

  1. Go to your Safety Hub
  2. Tap the “Settings” gear in the top right corner.
  3.  Scroll down to “Family driving alerts”
  4. Uncheck the box for any alerts you do not want to receive

Please note that trip notifications may be delayed by up to 2 minutes after the trip has ended. If the drive ends in a place where there is low carrier service, alerts may be further delayed.

*Requires mobile data or a WiFi connection, and access to sensory and motion data from cell phone to utilize safety features including family location sharing and driving alerts and reports. Messaging and data rates and other terms may apply.
