How do I add a bank account as a funding source?

There are two ways for you to add your bank account as a funding source. Additionally, Greenlight families that connect a bank as their funding account (instead of a debit card) are eligible for Greenlight Savings Reward

Add a bank instantly

Plaid is a service we use to add your bank account instantly and securely to Greenlight. 

  1. Navigate to your Settings by tapping the gear icon in the top right of your Parent Dashboard
  2. Tap "Funding preferences” then select Funding sources
  3. Once on this page, select "Add a Funding Account"
  4. Choose "Add a bank instantly"
  5. Read the prompt and select "Get Started" if you agree
  6. Choose your banking institution
  7. Enter your online banking credentials
  8. Choose to have verification go to your phone via text or call and hit continue
  9. Enter the verification code once received
  10. Choose the bank account you'd like to use to fund your Greenlight account and hit continue

After the last step, you should automatically be taken to your Parent's Wallet and have the ability to load money.

Add a bank manually

Instead of using your online banking credentials to connect to your bank, you can manually add your bank using your Checking and Routing number.

  1. Navigate to your Settings by tapping the gear icon in the top right of your Parent Dashboard
  2. Tap "Funding preferences” then select Funding sources
  3. Once on this page, select "Add a Funding Account"
  4. Choose "Add a bank manually"
  5. Select which account type you'd like to use and input your account information
  6. To verify your account, you will need to input the 2 micro deposit amounts into your Greenlight app when prompted. These micro deposits will each be less than $1.00 and should be viewable in your bank account within 1-2 business days. 
  7. Once you verify the amounts, the micro deposits will be removed from your account and you can start to load funds into your Parent's Wallet.
