How do I add a bank account as a funding source?

There are two ways for you to add your bank account as a funding source. Additionally, Greenlight families that connect a bank as their funding account (instead of a debit card, Venmo, or PayPal account) are eligible for Greenlight Savings Reward. 

Add a bank instantly

Plaid is a service we use to add your bank account instantly and securely to Greenlight. 

1. Navigate to your Settings by tapping the gear icon in the top right of your Dashboard
2. Tap "Account”
3. Tap “Funding”
4. Tap “Funding sources”
5. Once on this page, select "Add funding source"
6. Choose "Instantly add your bank"
7. You will then receive a code sent to your device and asked to verify it. Once verified, tap “Continue”
8. Choose an existing account from the list or tap “Add a new account” to link a new bank account 
9. Choose your banking institution
10. Tap “Continue to log in”
11. Enter your online banking credentials
12. Choose to have the verification code go to your phone via text or call and tap “Continue”
13. Enter the verification code once received
14. Choose the bank account you'd like to use to fund your Greenlight account and  tap “Continue”

After the last step, you should automatically be taken to your Greenlight Wallet and have the ability to load money!

Add a bank manually

Instead of using your online banking credentials to connect to your bank, you can manually add your bank using your Checking and Routing number.

1. Navigate to your Settings by tapping the gear icon in the top right of your Dashboard
2. Tap "Account”
3. Tap “Funding”
4. Tap “Funding sources”
5. Once on this page, select "Add funding source"
6. Tap “See more options”
7. Choose "Manually add your bank"
8. Select which account type you'd like to use and input your account information and tap “Next”
   • At this step, you can also check whether or not you’d like your funding source to be private
9. To verify your account, you will need to input the 2 micro deposit amounts into your Greenlight app when prompted. These micro deposits will each be less than $1.00 and should be viewable in your bank account within 1-2 business days 
10. Once you verify the amounts, the micro deposits will be removed from your account and you can start to load funds into your Greenlight Wallet
