Why is my verification code not being accepted for my purchase, and what do these errors mean?

Verifying a purchase with a one-time code should be quick and easy, but sometimes things don’t go quite as expected. If your code isn’t working, or you’re seeing an error message, don’t worry - we’ve got you covered. Below are some common reasons this might happen and what you can do to fix it!

Common reasons your code may not work

  1. The code may have expired
    • OTPs are only valid for 10 minutes. If too much time has passed, you’ll need to attempt the purchase to generate a new code
  2. Network delays or poor connection
    • A slow or unstable internet connection can cause issues during the authentication process. Wait a few moments and try again with a strong connection!
  3. The code must be entered exactly as received
    • Make sure you enter the code exactly as it appears in the message. Even a small typo can cause it to fail

Error messages you might see and what they mean

Here are a few error messages you might encounter during verification, and how to resolve them!

  1. “Please enter a valid code”
    • This shows up if you leave the OTP field blank. Be sure to enter the full OTP exactly as it appears. You will not be able to proceed with your purchase if you leave this field blank and will receive this error message
  2. “Please re-enter your code”
    • This typically means the code you entered is no longer valid—often because you’ve requested a new one by attempting the purchase again. Double-check that you’re using the most recent code that was sent to you.
  3. “You have reached the maximum number of new code requests”
    • If you’ve been unable to successfully enter the code and receive this error, you will have to re-attempt the purchase to restart the authentication process
