Place Alerts allow you to receive notifications when your family members enter or leave specific locations. It’s part of Greenlight’s real-time location sharing features and helps families stay connected throughout the day.
Primary Accountholders and Approvers can set up and manage place alerts once Location Sharing has been activated for you and your family!
How do I set up a Place Alert?
To create or manage place alerts:
- Tap on your “Safety” tab at the bottom of the screen
- Select the family member you’d like to set up or manage place alerts for
- Tap “Manage all place alerts” or “+ Add Alert”
- Here, you can tap into each place alert you’d like to edit or add your own customized place alerts
What Kind of Places Can I Set Alerts For?
You can set alerts for:
My Places
Custom locations that are important to your family.
To add a new place:
- Tap “+ Add a new place”
- Enter the address of the place you’d like to set up the alert for
Automatic Urgent Alerts
Receive alerts when family members arrive at:
- Hospitals
- Police stations
- Casinos
- Banks and ATMs
You can enable or disable alerts for these locations (Hospitals and Police stations) by tapping the arrow next to each family member’s name.
Public Place Alerts
Receive alerts when family members arrive at or leave public places such as stores, schools, or parks.
Can I choose whether I want to be notified when they arrive or leave a place?
Yes! To enable or disable when a family member arrives at or leaves one of the set place alerts:
- Tap into the family member’s “Manage all place alerts” section within your Safety hub
- Tap into specific place alert in the “My places” or “Public places” section
- Toggle on/off the “Arrives” and “Leaves” option for each family member
Note: Arrival and departure settings cannot be adjusted for “Automatic urgent alerts”.
How do I adjust the boundary radius for a Place Alert?
Each place alert includes a customizable boundary. You can adjust how large or small the location radius is to better match the area you want to monitor.
You’ll only receive an alert once the family member enters or exits the selected boundary.
To adjust the boundary size:
- Tap the “Safety” tab
- Select the family member
- Tap “Manage all place alerts”
- Tap the specific Place you’d like to adjust the boundary for
- Tap the map showing where the place is pinned
- Use the sliding scale to increase or decrease the boundary size (from 50 feet to 5,000 feet).
A smaller radius works well for specific buildings, while a larger radius may be helpful for bigger areas like parks or school campuses.
How do I delete a Place Alert?
To delete a place alert you created:
- Tap into the place alert management center for that family member from within your Safety tab
- Tap on the “My places” alert you’d like to delete
Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Delete place”
