Fall detection is a helpful safety feature that automatically alerts your family if the device detects a significant fall — no button press required! Here's how to turn it on and what to expect.
How does fall detection work?
When fall detection is enabled, the device uses its built-in motion sensors to detect sudden impacts that may indicate a fall. If one is detected, designated family members will receive a push notification automatically.
Important: Fall detection is designed to detect significant falls, but it is not 100% guaranteed to detect every fall, especially if the impact is minimal. When this setting is on, the device may also occasionally send false alerts — for example, if the device is dropped or the wearer makes rapid movements like jumping jacks.
How do I turn on fall detection?
Fall detection is turned off by default but the Primary Accountholder can enable it.
- From your Device page/ Safety dashboard, tap the "Settings" gear in the top right corner
- Tap "My family & devices"
- Scroll down to "Safe Family Devices" and select the device you'd like to update
- Tap "Device tracking"
- Scroll down to "Advanced tracking settings"
- Toggle on "Fall Detection"
Who receives fall detection alerts?
Fall detection alerts are sent as push notifications to the Primary Accountholder and any designated family members who have permission to see that device's location.
