Your admin PIN is a 4-digit code that keeps parent-only actions secure on your Family Hub. It lets you stay in control of managing things like Chores, Photos, and Calendars, while your family uses the Hub freely for everything else!
There will only be one admin PIN associated with your Family Hub so both adults will share the same PIN. Your Family Hub PIN is separate from your Greenlight app password and your phone's passcode. It's specific to your Family Hub permissions only.

What does the admin PIN protect?
Your PIN is required for most actions that create, change, or delete things on your Family Hub. Here's what it covers:
- Creating, editing, or deleting chores
- Creating, editing, or deleting calendar events
- Connecting calendars
- Creating, editing, or deleting rewards
- Manually sending or removing stars
- Deleting photos
- Adding or removing photo contributors
How do I set up my PIN?
Your PIN is created during your Family Hub setup in step 5 of the onboarding process on the Greenlight app. You'll enter a 4-digit PIN and confirm it once. If the two entries don't match, you'll be asked to try again.
Your PIN is brand new even if you already have a Greenlight account — it's a separate credential created specifically for your Hub.
A quick tip: common PINs like 0000 and 1234 aren't allowed, so choose something memorable that's uniquely yours!
What does entering my PIN look like?
When you tap something that requires your PIN, an overlay appears on screen with four empty dots and a numeric keypad. Each digit you enter fills one dot. After four digits, your PIN is validated automatically.
If it's correct, the overlay closes and you're in! Your PIN session stays active for 5 minutes, so you won't need to re-enter it for every action during that window. During this time if you’d like to “re-lock” your Hub so that a PIN is required for the next applicable task, you can tap “Exit session” in the “Secure Session” banner at the top of the screen.
You can also tap "Cancel" or the X button at any time to dismiss the PIN prompt and return to what you were doing.
What if I enter my PIN incorrectly?
If the PIN doesn't match, the dots flash red and shake, and the screen shows "PIN incorrect. Please try again." The keypad will reset so you can try again immediately. You'll see how many attempts you have remaining on screen.
After 3 incorrect attempts, your Family Hub locks PIN entry for 15 minutes. You'll see a countdown timer and the keypad will be grayed out until the lockout expires. Once it does, you're free to try again!
Good to know: If the PIN doesn't seem to be working, make sure you're entering the 4-digit PIN you created for your Family Hub specifically. You can always change your PIN if needed.
How do I change or reset my PIN?
If you’ve forgotten your Family Hub PIN or simply would like to change it, you can update it right in your account settings!
PIN changes happen in the Greenlight mobile app. On your Hub, go to Settings > the “Family” tab > tap "PIN" — you'll see a QR code to scan from your mobile device that will take you straight there within your app.
In the app:
- From the “Home” dashboard of your app, tap the Settings gear in the top right corner
- Tap "My family & devices"
- Tap your Family Hub device
- Tap "PIN reset"
- Enter your new 4-digit PIN and confirm it
- Tap "Save"
You'll see a confirmation that your PIN has been updated!
