How do I set up crash detection on my device and my family's devices?

For crash detection* to work for your family, and for driving reports and real time alerts* to populate for drivers, each individual must set up and enable all driving safety features on their own device while logged into their own Greenlight app.

To set up crash detection and driving reports on your device:

  1. Log in to your Greenlight account on your device
    • Primary Accountholder and Authorized Approvers: log in with your phone number
    • Kids and Teens: log in with your Greenlight username or phone number on file
(learn how to create a log-in for them here
    • Older adults: log in with your phone number on file and password
  1. Scroll down on your home dashboard to your ‘Family Safety’ tile
  2. In your Safety dashboard, you’ll see all features not yet active. Tap ‘Activate’ and follow the flows to activate yourself. Tap ‘Remind’ to send a text to your family members for them to activate
  3. Crash detection and driving reports will now be ‘on’ for your phone’s Greenlight app. When a family member has these features activated on their device, this will allow you to also receive real-time trip alerts for them
  4. Want to temporarily toggle off your driving features? Tap the gear icon in the top right of your Safety dashboard. Here, you can toggle off your features
  5. Primary Accountholders and Authorized Approvers can also adjust which trip alerts they receive for their activated family members in their settings

*Please note that crash detection must be enabled separately on each Greenlight user’s app

In some app versions(Versions 5.35 or newer), you will find the ‘Safety’ tab at the bottom of the screen:
