How do I set up location sharing on my device and on my family’s devices?

Location sharing helps your family stay connected and gives you peace of mind by letting you see each other’s locations in the Greenlight app!

Before you start

Location sharing must be set up on each individual device. For location sharing to work for everyone on your Greenlight account, each family member needs to turn on and complete location sharing setup from their own device while logged into their own Greenlight app.

Steps to set up Location Sharing on your mobile device

  1. Log in to the Greenlight app on your own device
    • Primary Accountholder and Authorized Approvers: Use your phone number to log in
    • Kids and Teens: Use your Greenlight username or phone number
Need to set up their login? Learn how here
    • Older Adults: Log in with your phone number and password
  2. Tap the “Safety” tab at the bottom of the screen
  3. In your Safety Dashboard, you’ll see any features that haven’t been activated yet
    • Tap “Activate” to turn on location sharing for yourself
    • Tap “Remind” to send a setup text to kids or older adults so they can activate it on their device
  4. Tap through the onboarding screens to complete setup
  5. That’s it! You’ll now be able to share your location with — and see the location of — any family member that mutually opted in to share their location with you

A Few Things to Keep in Mind
