Why can I not see my family member’s location?

  1. If you’re unable to see a family member’s location in the Greenlight app, there are a few settings you can check to help resolve the issue!
  2. Ensure that your family member has set up family location sharing on their Greenlight app and on their device
  3. Ensure that their device has data enabled. Family location sharing requires mobile data or a WiFi connection, and access to sensory and motion data from cell phones. Messaging and data rates and other terms may apply
  4. Ensure their device is set to allow the Greenlight app to "Always Use" their device's location
  5. Family location sharing is meant to enable family communication and connection. For this reason, if you have not shared your location with your family member, you will not be able to see their location. If you’d like to share your location with each other, ensure you have both opted in to sharing your location

Why isn’t my family member’s location updating?

If your child’s location isn’t updating, even after confirming the settings above, there may be other features on the device affecting location sharing.

Some settings or apps can interfere with location updates, including:

  • VPNs
  • Parental control or monitoring software
  • Accessibility or restricted mode settings (such as Assistive Access)

If everything else looks correct, try temporarily disabling these features and check if the location updates.
