To sign up for Greenlight, you must be at least 18 years old and have a U.S.-based residential address and U.S. phone number.
How do I create my account?
- Click here to sign up for Greenlight or download the Greenlight app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store on your mobile device
- Tap “Sign up”

Choose how you'd like to sign up:

Continue with Google
- If prompted, allow Greenlight to use your Google account to sign in
- Select the Google account you'd like to use
- Enter your Google account password if prompted
- You'll see a Connecting your account screen briefly before continuing
- Enter your phone number
- Enter the one-time code sent to that number to verify

Continue with Apple
- On the Apple ID sheet, confirm your name and choose whether to share or hide your email address
- Selecting Share My Email uses your real Apple email address on your Greenlight account
- Selecting Hide My Email generates a private relay address that forwards to your real inbox — this is the email address that will appear in your Greenlight settings
- You'll see a Connecting your account screen briefly before continuing
- Enter your phone number
- Enter the one-time code sent to that number to verify
- Continue with phone number — enter your phone number and verify with a one-time code

- Select “I'm the parent or guardian”
What happens after I choose my sign-up method?
You're almost there! Depending on how you found us, setting up your account can include:
- Adding your children: You can add up to 5 kids to your account. Each child you add will automatically get their own Greenlight debit card if you go through the flow to set up your children’s debit card accounts. You can also upgrade any of your kids to a Custom Card after you finish signing up.
- Adding an older adult: You can add up to 2 older adults to your account if you are on our Greenlight Family Shield plan. You will have the option to add a Greenlight debit card or Custom Card for each of them once you complete registration.
- Verifying your identity: The Greenlight Wallet, debit cards and investing are available on your plan once they've been activated. Activating means confirming your information (name, address, DOB, SSN) — we don't run a credit check, but we are required by law to confirm these details before those features can be switched on, to ensure the safety of your account, your funds and your family's cards. Important: Signing up with Google or Apple does not change what's needed to verify your identity. However you signed up, the steps are the same when you're ready to activate these features:
- Funding your child(ren)'s card: Load money directly onto your child's Greenlight card from your debit card, bank account, Venmo account, or PayPal account. If you're asked to add a funding source while setting up, we only ask that you load funds because this first load helps us offset fees and it also verifies your debit card or bank account. The money you load is yours, and you can add more to your family's cards whenever, wherever, and for whatever.
Your Greenlight subscription fee is charged to the payment method you added to your account for your plan.
That's it, you're in! Once debit cards are added on your account, your kids' cards are created automatically and typically take 7-10 business days to arrive. In the meantime, log into your app to help your kids or older adults set up their profiles, verify your bank account, and start exploring everything Greenlight has to offer!
