How do I close or cancel my Invest account?

If you no longer want to use Greenlight Invest, there are a few ways you can close or stop using your investing account.

The option that’s right for you depends on whether you’d like to keep your Greenlight account or close it completely.

Sell your investments in the app

If you’d prefer, you can sell your investments individually in the Greenlight app. Once your investments are sold and the funds settle, the money will appear in your Greenlight Wallet.

If you’d like help selling your investments or closing your Invest account, our team is happy to help!

Downgrade your plan to Greenlight Core

Downgrading your plan to Greenlight Core will close your Invest account. The Primary Accountholder can check out this article for the step by step process to downgrade the plan. 

What happens when you downgrade

If you downgrade from Greenlight + Invest, Greenlight Max, Greenlight Infinity, or Greenlight Family Shield to Greenlight Core:

Investing for Kids accounts
  • All investments in your child’s Investing for Kids accounts will be automatically sold on your next billing date
  • The funds will be moved back to your Greenlight Wallet
Investing for Parents accounts
  • Your parent investments will not be automatically sold
  • You’ll still be able to view and sell your investments
  • After your next billing date, you will no longer be able to purchase or research most stocks or ETFs, except for the limited 10 ETFs available on the Greenlight Core plan

Important to know

After downgrading, you’ll still have access to Invest features until your next billing date. Then, your child’s investing account(s) will be automatically liquidated on your next billing date.

Once the investments are sold, the funds will appear in your Greenlight Wallet after the normal settlement period (about 2 business days).

Close your Greenlight account

If you’d like to close your entire Greenlight account, your Invest account will also be closed automatically.
