Need to quickly lock a card or turn it back on? You can do it right from the Greenlight app — and both parents and cardholders can manage this on their own without contacting support!
How do I turn my child or older adult's card on or off?
As the Primary Accountholder or Authorized Approver, you can lock or unlock a cardholder's card at any time. Just keep in mind that if their card is turned off, you'll still continue to pay your monthly fee to access Greenlight's other features.
- Navigate to their dashboard
- Tap "Manage [first name's] debit card"
- Use the toggle next to "Lock card" to turn their card on or off — you'll see a prompt asking you to confirm your choice
Looking for more control over where and how much your child or older adult can spend? Spend Controls are a great way to set limits without turning their card off entirely. Learn more about Spend Controls here.
How do I turn my own card on or off?
Cardholders can lock and unlock their own card directly in the app — no approval needed!
- Navigate to your dashboard
- Tap "Manage debit card"
- Use the toggle next to "Lock card" to turn your card on or off — you'll see a prompt asking you to confirm your choice
Important: If a Primary Accountholder or Authorized Approver has turned your card off, you won't be able to turn it back on yourself. Reach out to them to have it unlocked.
