Understanding the running balance
Your transaction histories show a running balance so you can easily see how your available funds change over time.
Every time a purchase is made or money moves between balances, your running balance updates automatically.
Pending transactions
A pending transaction means a purchase has been authorized but hasn’t fully settled yet.
When this happens, the authorized amount is usually set aside from your available balance right away. Once the merchant finalizes the charge, the transaction posts and your running balance updates to reflect the final amount.
So if something looks slightly different for a short time, don’t worry — it’s just the transaction finishing up behind the scenes!
What does “Processing” mean?
If a transaction shows as “Processing” instead of displaying a running balance next to it, it means the final amount hasn’t been confirmed yet.
This is common with things like:
- Gas stations placing a temporary hold
- Restaurants authorizing a charge before adding a tip
Once the purchase settles, the final amount will be posted and your balance will update automatically.
If you see funds move automatically after a purchase, it may be related to your Spend Control settings. You can learn more about “Return Change” here!
