Can children within the same family send or request money from each other?

Send money flow → A child can send money to their sibling from their balances like Spend Anywhere.

Request money flow → A child can request money from a sibling using any of their balances, such as Spend Anywhere, ATM, or a savings goal. The child receiving the request can only approve it using their Spend Anywhere balance. They cannot change the source account; the transaction must be approved or declined using the Spend Anywhere balance.

How can I control money movement between my children?

Money movement between children within the same family is enabled by default. However, parents can choose to toggle off this functionality if they wish to.

  1. Open your Greenlight app and navigate to your Child’s dashboard.
  2. Click on “Profile” in the top right corner.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of your child’s Settings and toggle off “Transfer between siblings”.

This setting is applied at the individual child level. If you turn off transfers for one child, that child will not be able to send or request money from their siblings. However, the other children will still be able to transfer money to each other unless you disable the setting for them as well.

Why can’t a child in my family send money to other siblings from their Savings?

With the new Transfer to siblings flow, a child can send money to their siblings within the same family. The decision whether a child can send money to their siblings is determined based on the “Transfer out of Savings” setting.

If the “Transfer out of Savings” toggle is disabled, a child can not send money from their Savings. If parents want to enable their children to send money from their Savings to each other, parents can navigate to the child's settings and toggle on the “Transfer out of Savings” setting to enable this.
