How can my child or older adult view their Greenlight account? Is there an app for them?

The Greenlight App Experience for children and older adults

Whether your child has a smart phone or not, they can download the Greenlight app onto any app-enabled device, such as a cell phone, iPad, or tablet and use it to view their account, chores, and make requests.

You can also grant app access to an older adult on your Greenlight Family Shield plan so they can monitor their account as long as they have a mobile number. More on how to add an older adult here!

Children and older adults cannot access your Greenlight Wallet or funding source(s) from their accounts. Although everyone uses the same Greenlight app—Primary Accountholders, Authorized Approvers, children, and older adults—the experience is different depending on who is logged in. They will only see their own dashboard and cannot view or manage your financial information.

The Greenlight app is available to download within the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Due to recent changes in Amazon’s app policies, the Greenlight app is not currently supported on Amazon devices.

How to Set Up Your Child's Login

If your child has a phone number associated with their Greenlight account, it is important to have them use their phone number to log in instead of a username.

However, kids without a phone or associated phone number can log in with a username and password set up in-app by their parents!

After the app is downloaded onto your child’s device, you'll just need to enable their app access. You can enable access by following these steps:

  1. Log into your Greenlight app
  2. Choose the child you would like to enable app access for
  3. Tap "Profile" in the top right-hand corner of your child's dashboard to open their Profile settings.
  4. Tap “Personal information”
  5. Add and edit any of the personal information for the child
    • You will need to verify your identity as the Primary Accountholder by entering your password to add/edit the child’s email address and mobile number

If you decide to add an email address to your child or older adult’s account, it cannot be used to log in. The email is only used for password reset purposes if they ever need to recover their account.

To set up their password:

  1. Log into your Greenlight app
  2. Choose the child you would like set up a password for
  3. Tap "Profile" in the top right-hand corner of your child's dashboard to open their Profile settings
  4. Tap “Security” and “Password
  5. Enter your password as the Primary Accountholder to verify your account
  6. Enter in and confirm their new password
  7. Tap “Submit

If your child doesn't have a device of their own, you can also log out of your Greenlight app and have them log in using their username and password.
