How much does a data plan for my Greenlight Safe Family device cost?

The Safe Family plan itself has no monthly fee — the only charge is the device data subscription listed above. If you're already on a Greenlight financial plan, this subscription is billed separately and added on top of your existing plan.

Tip: There are no discounts available for multiple devices at this time. Each active device is billed at the rate above regardless of how many devices are on your account.

Can I add a Safe Family device to any Greenlight plan?

If you signed up for Greenlight through a partner institution or promotional offer through your bank, you will not be able to add a Safe Family device to your current plan. If you'd like to purchase a Safe Family device but are unsure if your current plan supports it, please contact our Support team before purchasing — we can confirm your eligibility and help you find the best path forward!

What payment methods can I use for my Safe Family device?

Safe Family device data charges are billed monthly using your payment method on file.

If you have a Greenlight plan (Core, Max, Infinity, or Family Shield):
You can use:

  • Bank account
  • Debit card
  • Venmo account
  • PayPal account

If you only have a Safe Family device(s) (Safe Family plan):
You can use:

  • Debit card
  • Credit card (during your account registration)
  • Venmo account
  • PayPal account

Note: Credit cards can be used for Safe Family device billing only and cannot be used to add funds to your Greenlight account

How does my billing schedule for my Safe Family Device work?

Your recurring monthly billing date for your Safe Family Device is set based on the day you first got started with Greenlight—either when you activated your very first device or when you first subscribed to another Greenlight plan (Core, Invest, Max, Infinity, or Family Shield), whichever came first.

If you activate a new device on a different day than your current billing date, your first charge will be prorated (adjusted to cover just the days left until your next billing date). After that, you’ll be billed the full monthly subscription fee for your device’s data plan on your regular billing date.

I’m currently only paying for a Greenlight Safe Family Device, but I’m interested in getting the Greenlight debit card and money app for families, too. How do I upgrade my account to do this?

Great question! To get access to the Greenlight debit card and financial app, you’ll just need to upgrade your Safe Family plan to one of our other plans-  Greenlight Core, Max, Infinity, or Family Shield. All plans include the debit card for kids plus all the app features families love!

To upgrade, simply give our customer service team a call at 888-483-2645 and they’ll be happy to help you make the switch.
