Your Family Hub is more than an organizer — it's a living memory board for your home! The Photos feature lets you fill your screen with the moments that matter most, from everyday snapshots to your favorite family milestones. Once your photos are set up, you can enjoy them as a slideshow or let your Hub light up your space as a beautiful picture frame in screensaver mode.
Photos is a free feature available on both Family Hub Free and Family Hub Plus!

How do I add photos?
Photos you’d like to sync to your Family Hub are added from the Greenlight app on your phone. The steps you take will be slightly different depending on whether you have an iPhone or Android device.
You can access your Family Hub Photos by tapping the Photos icon on your Hub’s navigation bar and scanning the QR code. Or, you can tap the “More” dashboard in your Greenlight app, which will take you directly to the Photos section!
From an iPhone (iOS)
The first thing you'll do is choose how Greenlight accesses your photos. This will determine whether photos from selected albums sync automatically or if you’ll need to upload photos manually each time you’d like to add them to your Family Hub.
Want to sync photo albums automatically? Follow these steps to set up album sync:
- From the Greenlight app, tap the “Photos” section within your “More” dashboard
- Tap "Add Photos"
- Tap "Set up permissions"
- When prompted that “Greenlight” Would Like to Access Your Photo Library” tap "Allow Full Access"
- On the next screen, tap "Sync Albums"
- Select the albums you'd like to sync and tap "Upload"
Once your albums are synced, any new photos added to those albums will automatically appear on your Family Hub — no extra steps needed!
If automatic sync stops working, follow the steps below to check your iPhone Settings
Want to choose which photos to upload each time? Follow these steps:
- From the Greenlight app, tap the “Photos” section within your “More” dashboard
- Tap "Add Photos"
- Tap "Set Up Permissions"
- When prompted that “Greenlight” Would Like to Access Your Photo Library” tap "Limit Access" to choose from specific photos, or "Allow Full Access" then "Upload Photos" to select from your full library
- Select the photos you’d like to add and confirm
Good to know: Once you've set up permissions, the setup screen is skipped on future visits. If you choose “Limit Access”, you'll go straight to the photo picker. If you choose “Full Access”, you'll land on the “Add Photos” screen to choose between “Upload photos” or “Sync albums”.
You can also share individual photos to your Hub straight from your iPhone's Photos app — just tap the share icon on any photo and look for the Greenlight app option!
How do I update my photo permissions on my iPhone?
If you'd like to change the level of access Greenlight has to your photo library — for example, switching from "Limit Access" to "Allow Full Access" — you'll need to update this directly in your iPhone's Settings:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone
- Tap "Privacy & Security"
- Tap "Photos"
- Tap "Greenlight"
- Select your preferred access level — "Limited Access" or "Full Access"
From an Android device
Android photos are always uploaded manually — there's no automatic background sync on Android.
- From the Greenlight app, tap the “Photos” section within your “More” dashboard
- Tap "Allow access" or "Upload photos"
- Grant Greenlight access to your photos when prompted
- Select the photos you'd like to upload
- Tap "Upload"
Your photos will appear on your Hub as they finish processing — usually within a few seconds each!
Good to know: Android uploads are limited to 128 photos at a time on Android 13 and below, and 512 photos at a time on Android 14 and above. If an upload is interrupted, you'll be notified and prompted to reselect those photos.
Who can upload photos?
By default, parents are set up as photo contributors. You can also enable other family members to add their own photos to the shared gallery.
Good to know: If two family members upload the same photo, it'll only appear once in the gallery so there are no duplicates!
How do I allow a family member to upload photos?
- On your Hub, go to the Photos page
- Tap the Settings gear
- Tap “Contributors”
- You'll see all family members listed under "Allow your family to add photos."Next to each family member you will see the option to toggle their permission to add photos on or off
- Toggle the switch to ON for the family member you'd like to allow to share
- Enter your admin PIN
That family member can now upload photos from the Greenlight app on their phone. They won't receive a notification — you may want to let them know directly!
How do I remove upload access?
- On your Hub, go to the Photos page
- Tap the Settings gear
- Tap “Contributors”
- Enter your admin PIN when prompted
- Toggle the "Can upload photos" switch to OFF for that family member
Good to know: Removing upload access doesn't delete any photos they’re added while they did have access. Their existing photos stay in the gallery and slideshow, they just won't be able to add new ones.
How do I view my photos on the Family Hub?
Tap the Photos page on your Family Hub to open the gallery of photos that have been uploaded so far. Your family’s photos will appear in a grid with the most recently added photos first, and new photos will pop in automatically as they're uploaded!
You can tap any photo to open it in full view — from here you can swipe left or right to browse through your gallery, or tap the play button to launch straight into a slideshow starting from that photo. Tap the "X" to go back to the gallery.
How do I start a Slideshow?
- On your Family Hub, go to the Photos page
- Tap the green play button at the top of the page
Your slideshow will begin, cycling through your photos automatically! While the slideshow is playing, you can tap the screen to show the controls — you can pause, skip forward or back, adjust settings, or tap "X" to exit.

| Setting | Options |
| Time per photo | 5 sec, 15 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 1 min 30 sec, 2 min |

How do I delete a photo from my Family Hub?
Deleting photos is easy but it does require your admin PIN.
- On your Hub, tap the Photos page
- Tap "Select"
- Tap the photo(s) you'd like to remove
- Tap "Delete"
- Enter your admin PIN
Good to know: If a deleted photo came from a synced album, it won't be deleted from that album on your phone, only from your Family Hub!
What happens if I delete a photo from my phone that was added to my Family Hub?
If you delete a photo from your phone that was added to your Family Hub through album sync, it will be removed from your Hub too. Photos uploaded individually (not synced from an album) won't be affected by any changes on your phone.
If you delete a photo from your Hub, your original on your phone stays completely safe and will not be deleted from your mobile device's library.
