Your payment method is the card or account that pays for your Greenlight plan or any Greenlight hardware subscriptions tied to your account. You can change it any time from the app, and it only takes a minute!
Please keep in mind that your payment method is separate from the funding source on your account if you have your Greenlight Wallet set up. If you need to update your funding source instead, check out how to update your debit card, bank account, Venmo or PayPal accounts.
How do I change it?
- Tap the settings gear from the Home dashboard in your Greenlight app
- Tap “Account”
- Tap “Billing”
- Tap “Subscription payment method”
- Tap the plan or device you'd like to update the payment method for
- Select the payment method you'd like to use, or tap “Add payment method” to add a new one
The one currently in use is marked "Preferred", so you can always see at a glance which card is being charged.
I have more than one subscription. Do I change them all at once?
Each plan and device subscription is billed separately and has its own payment method associated, so you'll update them individually in your app. On the “Subscription payment method” screen you'll see each of your subscriptions listed, so you can tap into each one to update which payment method you’d like linked to it!
What can I use as a payment method?
A credit card, a debit card, Venmo or PayPal account can be used as a payment method. If you have a Greenlight Wallet, that will appear as a payment option too!
A bank account can be added as a payment method too, however, it may not be available as a payment method during certain registration flows. If you don’t see the option as you're registering for your Greenlight account but would like to pay for your subscriptions with a bank account, complete your registration with a different funding source option and you can always add your bank account as a payment method later using the steps above!
Can I remove a payment method?
You can, as long as it isn't the only one on file. Your plan needs a valid payment method on file at all times, so just make sure to add the replacement first and then remove the old one. That way there's never a gap.
What if my payment method fails?
If we are unable to collect the payment from your preferred linked payment method, we will attempt to collect the payment from any other available payment method options you have linked, including your Greenlight Wallet.
If you have not activated your Greenlight Wallet and we are unable to collect your payment from any of the available methods after 4 attempts within an 8 day period, your account will be deactivated. Once you’re able to resume payments, please reach out to our team so we can assist with reactivating your account.
