Your Safety map gives you a real-time view of your whole family all in one place! Here's everything you need to know about reading the map and finding the people you care about. Please make sure that your app is up to date to the latest version for the full experience! (8.1.0 or higher)
How do I find a specific family member on the map?
- Tap the “Safety” tab at the bottom of the screen
- You'll see your family members' profiles placed at their current locations
- Tap your family member’s name to see their last known location
Tip: Tap the "Family" icon at any time to return to the full family view!
Why do some family members' profiles look faded?
When you tap a specific family member's profile in the bottom carousel or on the map, their profile is highlighted and everyone else's fades so you can focus on that person. Nothing is wrong — it just means someone is selected!
To bring everyone back into full view, tap "Family" at the far left of the bottom carousel. This clears the selection and restores the default family view.
Why do I see a circle with a number badge on the map?
When you're zoomed out to a wider view of your map, the family members who are close together are grouped into a single circle. A badge in the corner of the circle shows how many family members are inside the group.
To see everyone separately, zoom in by pinching the map, or tap the layered circle of your family members. Once you zoom in on your map, each family member's profile will appear individually!
Tip: No location information is lost when family members are grouped together, they're just displayed together to keep the map easy to read.
Why do two or more family members appear next to each other?
When family members are at the same location, like home or school, their profiles will appear side by side with a location label above them (like “Home”). This makes it easy to see at a glance exactly who's at a given spot!
What are the partial profiles on the edges of my screen?
If a family member's location is outside the area you're currently viewing on the map, their profile appears at the edge of the screen in their direction. Just tap their profile to jump directly to their location, or zoom out to see your whole family on the map at once.
Does anything need to be set up for the map to work?
The map works automatically as long as location sharing is already enabled for your family members. If you're not seeing a family member's location on the map at all, check out this article for help!
