Every family does allowance a little differently — and Greenlight is built to support that. You can give your child a flat-rate allowance or require certain chores’ completion before they can receive their allowance payout. It’s totally up to you!
Once you’ve made your choice and set up an allowance, Greenlight will handle the math and calculate the payout for you.
Want to connect allowance to chores? Here’s how:
- Go to your child’s dashboard.
- Tap on the “Allowance” tile
- Tap the pencil icon next to their allowance amount
- Select “Connect to chores”
- Toggle on “Pay based on chores”
- If you do not yet have any chores set up for your child, you will get an error message when attempting to toggle on this feature.

- Choose your preferred payout setting:
- Partial payments – Your child will earn a percentage of their allowance based on how many chores they complete
- All or nothing – They’ll only get paid if 100% of their chores are completed by payday
No matter which allowance setting you choose, Greenlight will always send you a reminder the day before allowance is due, so you’ll always be in the loop and can pause their allowances if needed.
