Family Safety is Greenlight's suite of tools to help keep your family connected and protected. On your Family Hub, you get a real-time view of your family's locations through Family Location Sharing, driving reports and trip history, visits to known places, place alert statuses, and Greenlight Safe Family Device tracking — all on one map!
Because the Hub is a shared family display, all of the Safety features on the Hub are view-only. Creating and managing place alerts, adjusting settings, and in-app SOS alerts all happen in the Greenlight app on your phone.

Your Family Hub is your view. Your app is your control.
Your Family Hub gives your family a live, real-time look at everyone's safety information — no PIN needed, visible to anyone in the household. All management and configuration happens in the Greenlight app on your phone.
What you can see on your Family Hub:
- Real-time locations for your children through Family Location Sharing
- Greenlight Safe Family Device locations and location history
- Driving reports and trip history — recent trips with a safe or unsafe indicator
- Visit history — arrivals and departures at known places
- Place alert status — like "School — Arrived" or "Home — Left"
- Each family member's individual location and activity history or a grouped “Family” view
What you manage in the Greenlight app:
- Create, edit, and delete place alerts
- Set up and manage SOS alerts
- Adjust Safety settings and location sharing preferences
- View full trip details
How do I access Safety on my Family Hub?
Tap the Safety page in the navigation bar on your Hub. The map will open showing real-time locations for your children, any linked Greenlight Safe Family Devices and more.
What can I see on the map?
The map shows a pin for each child and each Greenlight Safe Family Device. Each pin displays their profile icon, name, and whether the location is live or last known.
Tap any pin to open a location card showing:
- Their current address or place name
- When their location was last updated
- Battery level (for Safe Family Devices only)
At the top of the map, tap any profile icon to focus the map on that specific family member or device.
Why doesn't the map show parent locations?
Parent locations are intentionally not shown on the Family Hub map. Because the Hub is a shared family display that everyone in the household can see, parent location stays private. What's in the activity panel?
Below the map, several tabs give you more detail about your family's day. Everything here is viewable directly on the Hub — to manage anything, open the Greenlight app.
Driving reports and trips — recent trips your family members have taken, shown as safe or unsafe. Unsafe trips may include things like speeding or harsh braking. Filter by Unsafe, Driver, or Passenger. For full trip details, scan the QR code on the Hub to open the Greenlight app. For more, visit What are driving reports, how do they work, and how do I set them up or change my settings?
Visits — recent visits to known places, with arrival and departure times.
Family — a list view of all family members and their current status, like at home, at school, or in transit.
Place alerts — your active place alerts and their current status, like "School — Arrived" or "Home — Left." Tap the QR code on the Hub to manage alerts in the Greenlight app. For more on setting up place alerts, visit What are place alerts and how do I set them up and manage them?
What can I manage from the Greenlight app?
Tap the QR code on your Family Hub's Safety screen to go directly to the Safety dashboard in the Greenlight app. From there you can:
- Create, edit, or delete Place Alerts — get notified when your family arrives at or leaves a location
- Set up SOS alerts — SOS can only be triggered from a child's mobile device and is configured in the app
- Set up location sharing for yourself and your family members
- View full trip details — the Hub shows a summary; the app has the full breakdown
- Manage your Safe Family Device — in the app you can add new safety devices to your account and manage the settings for existing ones
