Microphone

Your Family Hub's microphone is always ready to detect the “Hey Greenlight” wake word. Wake-word detection happens on the device itself — no audio is sent to Greenlight or any third party until you activate the assistant by speaking the wake word or tapping the mic button.

Once activated, your request is processed and the audio is deleted. We don't store voice recordings. For full details on how Greenlight handles your data, check out this article.

If you'd prefer the AI assistant to respond only to physical taps, not voice acknowledgement, you can mute the microphone from your Hub's settings. For steps on how to mute it, click here.

Photo sync permissions on your phone

You control which photos sync from your phone to your Hub through your device's photo permissions.

On iPhone: Go to iPhone Settings > Greenlight > Photos and choose your preferred access level. Selecting "Allow Full Access" enables automatic background sync. "Limit Access" requires you to manually select photos each time.

On Android: Photos are always uploaded manually through the Greenlight app — there's no background sync on Android.

Who can see what on your Family Hub?

Your Hub is a shared family display — everything shown on screen is visible to anyone in the household. Calendar events, chores, lists, and photos are all visible to the whole family by design.

One intentional exception: Parent and approver locations are not shown on the Safety map. Since the Hub lives in a shared space where children can see it, parent location stays private. For more on the Safety features on your Hub, click here.

Who can upload photos?

Parents control who can add photos to the family gallery. You can enable or disable individual family members from the Photos section on your Hub — and any changes you make take effect right away. For steps, to adjust permissions, check out this article
