What sizes does Family Hub come in?
Family Hub comes in two sizes:
- 10.1-inch model — battery-powered or plugged in, portable
- 15.6-inch model — plugged in only, designed for a permanent home spot like your kitchen wall
Both models offer the same Family Hub experience. The main difference is how they're powered and where you'd place them. For more on physical setup, visit our Greenlight Family Hub: Hardware setup guide.
Who is Family Hub designed for?
Family Hub is designed for the whole household — parents, kids, and everyone in between. There's no minimum age requirement for using the Hub!
Does the Family Hub have a camera?
No — the Greenlight Family Hub does not have a camera. There is no way to take photos or record video from the device.
What colors does the Family Hub come in?
Currently, our Family Hubs only come in the color white.
Is the Family Hub waterproof or water resistant?
Our Family Hub devices are not waterproof or water resistant so you’ll want to make sure that you keep your Hub in a dry, safe space in your home.
Is the Family Hub drop-proof or resistant to fall damage?
The Family Hub is not designed to be drop-proof. If your device is damaged, contact our support team to explore your options.
Does Family Hub need Wi-Fi?
Yes — Family Hub needs a Wi-Fi connection for most features, including calendar sync, chores, lists, photos, and the AI assistant, so it will not work while mobile. The Hub supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks and mesh networks but cannot connect to captive portal networks. The Family Hub does not use cellular service or bluetooth.
If your connection drops, some features will pause until it's restored. For Wi-Fi setup and troubleshooting, check out this article.
What features are available when the Family Hub is offline?

Can I have more than one Family Hub?
Yes! Multiple Family Hub devices can be connected to the same Greenlight account under a single plan. All connected Hubs display the same shared family information, so everyone stays in sync no matter which one they're looking at.
Can my kids use Family Hub on their own?
Absolutely! Kids can use the Hub independently to check their chores, mark them complete, view the family calendar, browse photos, and visit the Reward Shop. Actions that create or change things — like adding a chore or editing a calendar event — require the parent admin PIN. For a full breakdown, visit What can my family do on the Family Hub?
Is Family Hub the same as the Greenlight app?
They work together but serve different roles. Your Family Hub is the shared screen in your home — it displays your family's information at a glance and is designed for the whole household to see. The Greenlight app on your phone is your control center — it's where you manage settings, approve chores, adjust plans, and configure everything.
Think of the Hub as what your family looks at together, and the app as what you manage privately on your phone.
What can I do on the Family Hub versus in the Greenlight app?
Most features work the same whether you're using your Family Hub or the Greenlight app, and everything stays in sync between the two. A few things only work in one place, though.
Actions only available in the Greenlight app:
- Approving or sending back a chore once your child marks it complete. The Hub will show you a "Review" button that takes you to the app to finish this step. (Creating or editing a chore itself can be done from either the Hub or the app.)
- Managing Safety features, like creating or editing place alerts, changing safety settings, or using the SOS button. All Safety management happens in the app.
- Our Greenlight Level Up™ game, which is currently only available through the app.
- Adding photos to your Family Hub’s photo gallery.
- Updating your home address.
- Resetting your Hub PIN.
- Changing your Greenlight plan.
- Core features that come with your Greenlight financial plan (Core, Max, Infinity, or Family Shield plans only) like:
- Managing allowances
- Viewing your Greenlight wallet or Greenlight Debit Card balances
- Viewing or managing investing accounts
- Greenlight Debit card management such as locking/unlocking a card or ordering a new card.
Actions only available on the Family Hub:
- Managing Ambient Mode and Screen Saver settings.
Does the Family Hub integrate with other family organization apps like Cozi or OurHome?
Our Family Hub does support calendar integration with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, and Outlook, so your existing events sync right into one place! However, we do not support integration with third-party family organization apps like Cozi or OurHome — chores, lists, and other Hub features work exclusively within the Greenlight ecosystem.
Can I access Family Hub from a web browser?
No — the Family Hub web experience is only accessible from a physical Hub device. If you try to open it on a phone, tablet, or computer, you'll be redirected to a page about purchasing a Family Hub instead.
How long does the Family Hub take to fully charge?
Our 10.1 inch model takes about 1 hour to fully charge. Our 15.6 inch model must remain plugged in at all times.
What should I do if my Family Hub gets hot while charging?
If you notice that your Family Hub gets a little warm in some spots on the back of the device while it's operating normally, there is no need to worry — this is completely normal!
However, if it feels like your Hub is beginning to get hot and you are concerned, please contact our support team so we can further assist.
